Duncan has a broad commercial and corporate litigation practice with particular focus on shareholders' disputes, commercial contracts, takeover regulation, tax disputes, exchange control, administrative and regulatory law, domestic and international arbitration, defamation and media law, and insurance. His recent work includes acting in disputes for state-owned entities and multinational companies in the energy, software, and logistics sectors; takeover and merger disputes for listed companies and investment funds; tax appeals and exchange control disputes; and defamation and broadcasting disputes for broadcasters and media organisations.

Before joining the Bar in 2018, Duncan was a partner in the dispute resolution team at Webber Wentzel, where he specialised in commercial, media and tax litigation. He holds BSocSci and LLB degrees from the University of Cape Town and an LLM from New York University, where he specialised in international arbitration and international litigation.
