Tshidiso Ramogale is an advocate of the High Court of South Africa and a member of the Johannesburg Bar. His principal areas of speciality are constitutional law, administrative law, public international law, commercial litigation and arbitration, competition law, business rescue, electoral law, land law and complex contractual disputes.
He has appeared before courts and tribunals in South Africa and internationally, including the International Court of Justice, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court of Appeal, the Competition Appeal Court, the Electoral Court, the Labour Appeal Court, the Land Claims Court and the High Courts of South Africa, Namibia and Lesotho. He has acted in numerous reported matters concerning constitutional rights, public accountability, electoral law, competition law and public international law.
Before joining the Bar, Tshidiso served as a law clerk to Justice Sisi Khampepe at the Constitutional Court and worked at the South African Human Rights Commission. He was later appointed by the Minister of Justice to the Special Task Force for Land Justice and Reform, where he contributed to drafting the Land Courts Bill, subsequently enacted as law. He has also served in commissions of inquiry, including as an evidence leader.
Tshidiso holds an LL.M, awarded with distinction, from Harvard Law School and an LL.B from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Duke University, the editor of Public Interest Law in South Africa and the author of a forthcoming book on constitutional litigation.
His professional service has included membership of the Johannesburg Bar Council, chairing its Young Bar Committee, serving as Vice-Chair of its Professional and Fees Committee, and holding leadership positions within Advocates for Transformation and Advocates Group 621.
