In 1998 Robin clerked for the late President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Arthur Chaskalson.

In 1999 and 2000 he served articles of clerkship at Edward Nathan & Friedland Inc (the litigation department of which became Knowles Husain Inc).

In the first half of 2001 Robin completed pupillage with Azhar Bham (now SC), becoming a member of the Johannesburg Bar and of Advocates Group 621 in July 2001.

In May 2016 he was recommended by the Johannesburg Society of Advocates for the conferment of silk.

Robin conducts a private and public law practice, advising and litigating in fields which include general commercial, competition, administrative and constitutional law.

Robin serves regularly as an acting judge, arbitrator or adjudicator.

He is involved in bar and group affairs, including selecting and training pupils and new members.

Robin is a director of the non-profit organisation Lawyers Against Abuse (LvA).

He is married to Tricia. They have two children and foster a third. On account of their son’s autism, Robin has an interest in remedial and special needs education, serving previously as chairperson of the national executive committee of Autism South Africa and currently as a member of council and exco of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA).

Robin’s interests include reading and running.
